Official Score
On this website, the official scores for each game are recorded on the "Results" pages for all regular season game, and on the "Playoffs" pages for post-season tournament games.

The official score of an RPB game is the running score marked on the top and bottom of each scoresheet. When a player scores a basket, the scorekeeper should cross out the points so that the last number crossed out is the score for that team. If the player scored a 2-point basket, then the scorekeeper crosses out both points and marks the number of the player who scored above the crossed-out numbers.

If a scorekeeper forgets to mark the running score or marks it incorrectly, this results in an incorrect official score for the game. To correct an incorrect game score, the coaches of both teams need to contact the RPB Scorekeeper (dlingner@rpbasketball.org) to report the correct score of the game. If both coaches agree, then the official score of the game will be corrected.

Stats Pages

Sometimes the player points recorded on the scoresheets do not agree perfectly with the running score, a problem which leads to an apparent discrepancy on the stats pages between the team scores calculated from the player points and the (unofficial) scores typed in at the bottom of each game. [The scores shown on the results pages are the only official scores on this website for regular season games. The game scores on the playoff brackets are the official scores for tournament games.]

The apparent discrepancies on the stats pages can be avoided by cross-checking the two areas of the scoresheet throughout the game and making sure things are in agreement at all times. The scoresheet is constructed so that cross-checking is quite easy, but not all scorekeepers bother to cross-check the running score with the player points correctly. Therefore, it is sometimes impossible to reconstruct the actual point totals for each player accurately.
